Where’s My Pumpkin???

August 16th, 2005

from Wacky Girl:

Okay. When we got back from swimming lessons… There used to be TWO PUMPKINS in our front yard. But then when we got back, there was only ONE. Okay. Someone stoled our pumpkin. The big one, too!

We made a sign. It said:

“IF U TOOK OUR PUMPKIN CUZ U WERE HUNGRY — THAT’S OKAY.

IF U STOLE OUR PUMPKIN U ARE A JERK.

SIGNED,

THE PUMPKIN KIDS”

And we drew pumpkins all over it, and I wrote “STOLEING MY PUMPKIN” with an arrow pointing to the biggest one.

From Wacky Mommy: Yeah, Wacky Daddy and I talked about the pros and cons of planting a garden in the front yard. But I had extra seeds, the space was there, and there you have it. Next thing you know we’ve got corn in the backyard, corn in the front yard, raspberries, petunias, new potatoes, tomatoes that are finally ripening… And I know, I know, the pumpkins were on the parking strip, out front, they were tempting — I figured someone would swipe one or all of them.

But in August?

I’m assuming that if the corn out front ever ripens, it’ll go bye-bye too.

We’re already planning for next year — a giveaway garden out front. An “Unvictory Garden,” of sorts, cuz argh — you know they’re not eating that pumpkin! I’m sure the jerks just smashed it to bits for fun. But whatever.

Sending love and pumpkins out into the universe,

WM

I thought I posted on this, but it must not have come through.

    To Wacky Girl:
I do not want to have to be the one to tell you this, but I saw someone who looked suspiciously like Cinderella (the fancy ball gown and the one glass shoe were a dead giveaway!) sneaking into your yard one night! I bet she stole the pumpkin to get to the ball! You just cannot trust these fairy-tale types. Its a good thing you made your sign to keep other pumpkin theives away. I hear that Peter Peter, the pumpkin eater lives around here too. Hugs, Heather
