Silly, wacky Mommy, it's because food is so satisfying and feeds the soul. My kids love my Mom's cake with homemade frosting and she loves making them. When I made a cake for son#2's return home from college, he asked why no homemade frosting. (Gee, numbnuts, maybe b/c I was working extra that week to help pay for tuition???)
Seriously, I have never made waffles and would love to try someday. Did you see where there is going to be an Eggo shortage? My kids are old enough to just grab whatever for breakfast, but I do like those pancake suppers where I hide fresh fruit and yogurt.

PS-It's been over a week since I blogged and I can't seem to get my mojo back. Nothing but crickets... Any advice?

But the thing is, it will. Those things are the things that matters. My mother was an excellent cook, and I still sing the praises of her blackberry-apple pie and suspect that mine just isn't QUITE as good as hers was, in my memory, esp the time she made us all little ones in ramekins, a pie for each child.
But mostly what I remember is her character, and her knitting before the Parkinsons got too bad, and that she was always there even when it was too much, and how much she loved me.
What you are matters, even if all the kids can do at this point is exclaim over the white flour.
