Demo Men & Women — Unstoppable
Dateline: Eugene, Oregon:
The guys won. The girls won. Two 5A state basketball championship titles for Jefferson High School, out of North Portland. Congrats, players. You rule.
Also must give a shout-out to the Grant Generals, who won their title as well, in 6A. My dad would be so happy, Paul H. is happy, and I’m happy as hell, too, for all of the kids from my neighborhood and the next neighborhood over.

Unbelievable accomplishment..actually ahem.. more than believable accomplishment for the PIL. These kids deserve this victory. Got a little nervous with all the obviously blatent bad calls late in the game in regards to the Jefferson men..but alas we pulled it off. The women took care of business.. and the Generals are just flat out studs!
The Pil may lack funds.. The Pil may lack support.. The PIL may lack respect..
But the PIL definately does not lack heart!
It’s often said.. “it dosen’t matter who wins or looses”.. if this is the case then why do we keep score?
I hope the energy derived from these victories can be carried out through powerfull life skills..future succesfull community leaders.. and hope for all those watching.

Woohoo! Great job, Demos! Let’s get excited about these kids and invest some time and money into their education and their futures, off the court, as well.

Heather,
Yes, these students deserve a better investment of time and money toward their futures. PPS has to do the big job, but we “civilians” can help by:
1. Volunteering time at Jeff. I think Wacky Mommy can give some details to anyone interested.
2. Supporting the school by joining the PTSA, which meets on the second Wednesday of each month. Its only 10 bucks, but I will donate the fee for anyone who is unable to pay it. Get involved!
