QOTD: Lyle Lovett
“I said I don’t like hippies
And I don’t like cornbread
And I don’t like much”
— “Fat Babies,” Lyle Lovett
You know how when you go to someone’s house, and their kitchen is filthy? And the bathroom is filthy? And you think Please God let me not have to take a pee while I’m here. And please, please…
…and then they say, Here, I fixed us a little something to eat!
And you’re thinking, If I eat that, I’m gonna get botulism or salmonella or something bad and damn, I don’t even like coleslaw get me out of here.
Or maybe that’s just me. Anyway, my goal, small though it may be, is to not be that person.
Here. Have a cooky.
Goddess Dooce is in Portland tonight, you going? I can’t make it, too much going on. Bummed about that but I’ll deal.
Have a superfine Monday. The kids are back in school, finally.

Yum, cornbread.
This weekend, I got my son’s cold with a fever. Yay! Soon, the weight of germs + phlegm will make us unable to walk. I am over flu season, now I just need to get over the being sick.

Yeah, I’m striving to not be that person too – though, just the thought of moving has sapped the will to cook and the will to wash dishes right out of me. Mostly I just want to drink wine, order pizza and watch TV, and that is so far from what I’m doing it makes my teeth hurt…
Dooce will miss you.

I was so disappointed to miss her! I’ve known for weeks she was coming and also known for longer than that that I’d be busy this evening. Too bad.

I also try not to be that person but unfortunately in this house (of constant dirt and mold oozing from it’s pores) I’m not having much luck. :( Oh well. Tell you what: I’ll bake a cake and send it over. ;)
