my daughter’s response to my telling her that I signed her up for swimming lessons…
…she carefully, precisely, tried to break my desk in half.
Like she would a board in taekwondo class. Not with any malice or anything. It’s just when you know you can break stuff in half, using just your foot or hand, it sort of changes your entire life.
That’s right, she likes martial arts. But you know what? Swimming is critical, too. It’s critical that we know how to kick hard and swim well. All good survival skills.
We’ll swim in the mornings, go to TKD in the evenings, wooooooot, happy summer, y’all!
“We’re having a heat wave/
a tropical heat wave/
the temperature’s rising/
it isn’t surprising/
she certainly can/
can-can”
Swimming is VITAL! And, once you learn how, it’s really fun.

Wacky Girl swims like a lil dolphin, she just needs a refresher. Her brother is in need of lessons but will soon be swimming like a dolphin, too, i am sure.
Myself? I never managed to figure out the whole side-breathing thing. Too much water up the nose too many times. But I do a mean breaststroke and love to float on my back ;)

I swim like a fish. Every since I was about a year old in a walker at my grama’s and my aunt who was babysitting me didn’t notice me propel my walker into the deep end of their pool and sink like a rock. My uncle saved me. And I started infant swimming lessons the next week. I made all my kids have the same thing. Just in case!
