song of the day
from my son:
“Did you ever go a-fishin’ on a sunny, sunny day/
sit on the bank/
’til the bank give away/
with your hands in your pockets/
and your pockets in your pants/
sit on the bank/
and do a hootchie-kootchie dance…”

This is an incredible song! It made my day. Did he really make that up? Tell him he is a talented genius.

Naw, it’s an old one. He was singing another one the other day, something about, “She drowned in the mill pond from standing on her head…” He didn’t make that one up, either. http://www.akh.se/lyrics/go_tell_aunt_rhody.htm

ps that’s what you get when you have (shhh!) music teachers in the schools.

Well, I am glad he brought it to my attention. You two should look up Burl Ives’ song: “I’m in love with an Octopus”. Let me know what you think. It was a favorite of mine. I used to dance to it with my friends (when I was five, not 13! Although I could be persuaded to dance to it again now that I am old.)

I was wrong. It’s a Sondheim song from the musical Fanny. “”I’m in love with an octopus, a slinky, inky octopus.
Take me back to her eyes of black and those eight loving arms around me.”
Burl Ives? What was I thinking?
