“How beautiful it is to do nothing, and then rest afterward.”
– Spanish proverb

My little tiny son started kindergarten today. I am crying.

Awww, just another transition and a sad one. Bet he was happy which probably made it worse for you.

How did the rest of the day go?

    Jenny,
I would like to say that the rest of the day was fine and dreamy, and that I enjoyed the gorgeous sunshine and the time with my friends and all — but it was chaotic and weird.

    And pretty awful.

And I can’t talk about it just now or I’ll get more bummed out than I already am. More later.

    And… Things will get better?

I have one for the books. My daughter (now 21) had been at the same daycare for 5 years. Her grandmother was one of her caregivers….how sweet is that! So on the first day of kindergarten my daughter gives me the evil eye and says “You should not be sending me here, I won’t learn anything, I need to go back to my REAL school.” I cried all the way to work. Around 11 am that morning I received a phone call from the principal…..”your daughter has escaped and is heading for the bus stop on Beaverton Hillsdale Highway”…..ohmigod. I arrive to find the principal and four teachers in the field next to the bus stop. With each step they took toward her, she took 10 towards the highway. With major coaxing, I finally retrieved her. She apparently had seen a Tri-Met bus and knew that they “drove downtown where my real school is”……Things did eventually get better….now I only have to color my grays every 8 weeks instead of 8 days……. ;-)

    Zip,
The little varmint! She was lighting out for the territory. Glad to hear you both survived her childhood.
